As America commemorates its 250th anniversary all throughout the year, communities across the country are finding new ways to connect residents and visitors with the people, places, and events that shaped our nation’s history. In Harford County, Maryland, that journey begins with the 250 Harford County Celebration Trail, a new interactive experience designed to make exploring local history engaging, educational, and fun.

Developed by Hello Harford and Let’s Rallie, the Celebration Trail features 65 historic sites throughout the county, inviting participants to discover museums, historic markers, landmarks, and cultural attractions at their own pace. Powered by the free Let’s Rallie mobile app, the self-guided experience allows users to navigate to each location, check in as they visit, and track their progress along the way.

Harford County has long played an important role in America’s story. From colonial settlements and the Revolutionary War to the Civil War and beyond, our communities are rich with stories waiting to be explored. Several locations featured on the Celebration Trail are also part of the Civil War Trails network, offering visitors the opportunity to experience firsthand the places where soldiers marched, civilians endured hardship, and history unfolded.

The Celebration Trail encourages travelers to slow down and spend time discovering these remarkable places. Whether standing at a Civil War Trails interpretive site, touring a local museum, or walking through one of Harford County’s historic districts, visitors gain a deeper appreciation for the people and events that shaped both our county and our nation.

July is an especially meaningful time to explore. Communities across Harford County celebrate America’s independence with parades, festivals, living history programs, and fireworks, while the annual Harford County Farm Fair showcases the agricultural heritage that has been part of our community for generations. These events complement the Celebration Trail by highlighting the traditions and stories that continue to define Harford County today.

By using mobile technology, visitors of all ages can create personalized journeys through history while discovering local restaurants, shops, parks, and attractions along the way, supporting the communities that preserve these important places.

Whether you’re a lifelong history enthusiast, a Civil War Trails traveler checking another destination off your map, or simply looking for a memorable day trip or weekend, the Harford County Celebration Trail offers an invitation to experience history where it happened.
