Civil War Trails is the world’s largest “open air museum,” offering over 1,500 sites to visitors across six states. As a partner in the program, our team is here to be an extension of your staff, providing services which fall into two broad categories.

Maintenance

Maintaining the network of signs including:

 

  • Routine servicing of your interpretive sign(s)
    • Replacement of faded panels
    • Refreshing pedestal paint
    • Repair of damaged parts
  • Upkeep of directional sign network
    • Interfacing with regional DOT offices
    • Replacing “trailblazer” signs and arrows
    • Amending “trailblazer” locations as needed
  • Updating interpretive sign content
    • Identifying deficiencies
    • Coordinating stakeholder/consumer review
    • Providing research, writing, and editing
    • Assessing new (re)location

Marketing

Promoting your sites and stories internationally:

 

  • Updating and distributing printed map guides
    • Collecting partner and consumer feedback
    • Ensuring accuracy of a site, narrative, and partner listings
    • Coordinating the printing with each state travel office
    • Responding to visitor inquiries and bulk requests
    • Coordinating interstate distribution
  • Ensuring a strong digital footprint
    • Creating and updating digital wayfinding tools
    • Assisting your office in the creation of digital content
    • Access to CWT logos for print and digital content
    • Providing relevant content for web, blog, and social media
    • Placing advertisements in podcasts and periodicals
    • Promoting programs at your sites
