Terry Heder – Historian/Editor
Terry joined Civil War Trails as Historian/Editor in September 2024, and sat on the Civil War Trails Board of Directors from 2009-2020. He previously worked as the Director of Interpretation, Education, and History for the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District and served as regional coordinator of the Civil War Sesquicentennial in the Valley. He believes in making history engaging for modern visitors by bringing history to life with compelling narratives and anecdotes, relating historic stories in the words and through the eyes of the people who lived through them. Terry developed an interest in history and historic sites at a young age, an interest that was fostered and encouraged by his parents and teachers. Having grown up as a Navy brat living all across the country (and in Spain), he now resides in Broadway, Virginia, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with his beloved wife Kirsten and their cat D.C.
